Dallas is definitely an urban area, but we also have green spaces. The metro area boasts over 160 miles of hiking and biking trails, including the Katy trail which runs through the heart of the city.

We have 2 major airports nearby, DFW and Love Field. This means you'll never struggle to find a flight for vacation. You'll usually fly Southwest out of Love field, or American Airlines out of DFW (both of these airlines are headquartered in Dallas).

Cost of living in Dallas sits right around the median, making Dallas one of the more affordable big cities to live in. A 1-bedroom apartment in a nice neighborhood within 10 minutes of BUMC will run about $1500-1800. People willing to have a commute closer to 20 minutes will find that the rent gets significantly cheaper.

Texas has no state income tax, and Dallas has no local income tax, which makes things much more convenient for filing
